“Argentina really does seem to have much higher inflation than the government admits” said Paul Krugman in his latest blog post about Argentina and the difference between our inflation series and the official ones.
With an annual inflation close to 40%, Argentina is about to close 2014 with its highest annual inflation rate in the last 20 years. As the inflationary process continues, the gap between our series and official statistics has been 14% on average in the last 5 years. This is the largest gap in our current data set for 22 economies, where the average difference has been 0.4%.
